About Amayenge
Amayenge was started in 1978 in Choma by Chris Chali, first as Crossbones and later as New Crossbones. The band plays kalindula and is considered one of the best kalindula bands of the past decades.
It has played internationally, including the WOMAD festival in London and shows in Asia and the Americas. After Chris Chali died on 30 May 2003 the band carried on, with Fraser Chilembo named as its leader.
