About PK. Chishala collection
PK Chishala (Peter Kalumba Chishala) was born on 10 October 1957 in Kitwe and became one of the best known kalindula musicians of the 1980s and 1990s. He was active from 1984 until the mid-1990s and is buried in Chingola. Sources give his death as 1995 or 1996.
His song Ba Pastor won Song of the Year in 1985, and the title track of his album Church Elder won him Soloist of the Year in 1987. In 1988 he carried the Zambian flag at the WOMAD festival in the UK, backed by the Masasu Band.
Other Zambian artists, including Mumba Yachi and Afunika, name him as an influence. His song Lelo ni Weekend is still popular at weddings.
